2012 Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Celebration Event
Free and open to the general public
Please join Justiceworks, Ltd. and friends for the Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Celebration event on Monday, January 16th , from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., at the Stevens Point Senior High School Auditorium, 1201 North Point Drive, Stevens Point, WI. The event is free and open to the public. Keynote performer, UW-Madison Professor Patrick Sims, will perform a dramatic excerpt from his original play, “10 Perfect: A Lynching Survivor’s Story”. Professor Sims is founding director of the University of Wisconsin-Madison Theatre for Cultural and Social Awareness in the Department of Theatre and Dance. His performance will cover a chapter of history focusing on civil rights activist, James Cameron. The drama delivers a message of forgiveness and reconciliation and is suitable for students of junior high age and older.
Musical guests include the Stevens Point Senior High School Concert Choir and the Monteverdi Master Chorale. The John Klismet Justice Volunteer Award will be presented to 2012 award recipient Patti Cahill. Refreshments follow the program. Donations to support the annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Celebration will be taken at the door.
